Vasilis Galanis lives and works in Athens, Greece. He holds an Integrated Master from Aristotelian
University of Thessaloniki (2012-2017), a M.F.A. from the Athens School of Fine Arts (2019-2021) and is
a PhD candidate in Philosophy at the University of Crete (2024-), researching early representations of
cyberspace in Science Fiction and mass culture. His artistic research tackles issues related to
technology, ecology and history, with a specific focus on the latter and the connections between “close to
obsolete” media, such as painting and hand-written text, and their digital counterparts. His work has been
shown in numerous group shows, one solo and one duo show. In 2021, he participated in the 14th
International Painting Symposium in Luxor, Egypt. In 2022, he was awarded the Stavros Niarchos
Foundation Artist Fellowship by Artworks. He has published articles related to his research interests in Ta
Nea (2023), kato catalogue (2021) etc. In July 2023 he performed in the theater play Love in the time of
climax in Ancient Theater of Aigeira, supported by the Greek National Opera.
